Providing a quality American education to our children is a fundamental function of our society. America Matters believes addressing the critical issues in education is vital to the continued strength and prosperity of our country. It is essential that the next generations receive the knowledge and skills they need to succeed and we must ensure equal opportunities in education to allow all of them to do so.

The promise that every child deserves an education worthy of this great nation is a challenge, but one we must not fail to deliver. Addressing the latest issues in education and strengthening the American education system will be a very difficult task. However, it can be accomplished with concerted effort and prioritizing the value of America education; not on political differences or other things that distract from enhancing educational opportunities. Our current education system needs revision and we must work together to ensure it prepares future generations for the world we live in and the many challenges that face our country today and in the future.

There are many distressing education trends that must be seriously addressed at all levels from K-12 through college. We must consistently evaluate our educational systems by how well they prepare students for life, citizenship, and the workforce. Parents must be able to trust that the schools their kids attend will be places of learning not indoctrination. Parents also deserve choices about the type of education they want their children to receive. School choice recognizes there is no one size fits all for kids or schools. And, competition between different types of schools can strengthen the education provided, if properly administered and fostered.

We need to refocus our priority to the value of the education provided. Our education system must be designed, administered, and operated for the benefit of the students, not the administrators and bureaucrats. The goal should be instilling an educational foundation that respects the basic principles that America was founded on with an eye to a better future. We must teach students respect for America’s founding principles and equip them to create a brighter future. Each generation has the opportunity to make this country a better place and we must foster that goal and provide the tools so they can make it happen.
